Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Dental Sterilization Tech / Hygiene Assistant to join our team. This role is essential in maintaining a sterile environment, supporting hygiene operations, and ensuring the highest standards of infection control. You will be involved in preparing for surgeries, taking x-rays, setting up for hygiene patients and helping turn over the operatory after the appointment. The ideal candidate will have some experience with dental procedures, be x-ray certified and have knowledge of the flow of a dental practice. Duties
- Properly sterilize and prepare dental instruments using aseptic techniques in compliance with infection control protocols.
- Assist with chairside procedures .
- Take vital signs and assist with patient comfort measures such as medical imaging and monitoring vital signs.
- Assist with medical clearance documentation and pre-op prescriptions
- Support the dental team by preparing treatment rooms, organizing supplies, and managing sterilization equipment.
- Assist with X-ray procedures and operate 3D scanners and CBCT
- Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and coding
- Uphold HIPAA compliance to protect patient confidentiality at all times.
- Collaborate effectively with dental receptionists and other staff members to ensure smooth clinic operations.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a dental office
- Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures.
- Familiarity with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Epic, or similar EMR platforms.
- Understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, medical imaging, and medical documentation standards.
- Experience with chairside assisting including four-handed dentistry and pediatric dentistry is advantageous.
- Ability to accurately record vital signs and assist during various dental procedures
- Certification or training in X-ray operation is preferred; knowledge of 3D scanners and CBCT machine is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; excellent communication skills are essential.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. This role provides a vital contribution to our team’s success by ensuring clinical excellence through meticulous sterilization practices and supportive patient care assistance.
Pay: $17.00 - $26.00 per hour
