Starting at $25.83, D.O.E.
This position performs skilled work in the electrical maintenance and repair of water/wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and related equipment. May work independently or with other electricians, mechanics, laborers, and the pump station operators during repair assignments and assists in developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs and maintaining detailed records. The electrician must have controls troubleshooting skills and be able to diagnose and repair electrical systems focusing on automation, PLCs, VFDs, and complex circuits, using tools like multimeters, clamp meters, thermal cameras, and schematic reading to fix issues from loose wires to programming errors, ensuring machines run safely and efficiently.
Core Responsibilities & Skills include: Troubleshooting medium/low voltage (120v to 4160v) power, motor starters, transformers, and breakers. Diagnosing PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMI (Human-Machine Interfaces), sensors, relays, and VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives). Working with 4-20mA signals, transmitters, and calibration. Reading and interpreting electrical drawings and manuals. Adhering to strict lockout/tagout (LOTO) and electrical safety procedures. Qualified candidates should possess an Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field and five (5) years of experience in motor controls, electronics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Candidates should also possess a valid State of Georgia driver’s license (Class C) and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), with a valid State of Georgia Class II (Unrestricted) Electrical License preferred. An individual in this position is on 24-hour call, 7 days a week and reports to the Maintenance Mechanic Superintendent.
