We are looking for an experienced KUKA robotic CNC / milling technician or programmer to help set up and operate our Robotic Solutions RMC60 KUKA robotic milling machine.
The primary goal of this position is to have someone who can take a 3D model and handle everything necessary to get that model ready to cut on the machine.
We primarily use the machine for cutting and sculpting foam, including large custom shapes, props, decorative pieces, and Mardi Gras float components.
What We Need You to Do
Take completed 3D models and prepare them for machining
Create and modify toolpaths
Set cutting depths, feeds, speeds, stepovers, plunge settings, and other CAM parameters
Configure tools and router bits
Generate the files/programs required by the KUKA robot
Work with KUKA .SRC and .DAT files
Transfer programs to the machine and verify that they run correctly
Set and adjust work coordinates, origins, tool offsets, and cutting heights
Troubleshoot KUKA programming, CAM, and machine errors
Run simulations and check toolpaths before cutting
Perform test cuts and make adjustments when necessary
Help us develop a reliable workflow where a 3D model can be converted into a machine-ready program with minimal downtime
Train our existing staff on basic operation and troubleshooting when needed
Equipment / Software
Our machine is a Robotic Solutions RMC60 robotic milling cell using a KUKA industrial robot. We currently work with NC Robot / CAM software and KUKA robot programs.
Experience with KUKA KRC controllers, KUKA SmartPad, robotic milling, CNC machining, CAM programming, or similar industrial robotic machining systems is strongly preferred.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who has actual hands-on experience with one or more of the following:
KUKA robotics • Robotic milling • CNC programming • CAM programming • 3D machining • KUKA KRL • .SRC/.DAT programming • Toolpath generation • Foam machining
This is not a full-time machine operator position. We are looking for someone who can come in part-time or as needed, get projects programmed and set up correctly, troubleshoot problems, and leave the machine ready for our team to run production.
Retired CNC programmers, robotics technicians, independent contractors, manufacturing technicians, and experienced KUKA programmers are encouraged to apply.
Compensation
Competitive hourly or per-project compensation based on experience.
We are willing to pay well for someone who already understands this equipment and can independently take a 3D model through the entire process to a successful finished cut.
To Apply
Please send a brief description of your experience with KUKA robots, CNC machining, robotic milling, and/or CAM programming.
If possible, include:
KUKA systems you have worked with
CAM/CNC software you have used
Experience with robotic milling or machining
Examples of previous machining or robotic projects
Your availability
Your desired hourly or project rate
The most important qualification is being able to take a 3D model and turn it into a working program that can be loaded onto our KUKA machine and successfully cut.
Pay: $25.85 - $31.14 per hour
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Saint Rose, LA 70087
