Join our dynamic team as a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) A Driver and take the wheel of our state-of-the-art trucks to deliver freight efficiently and safely across diverse routes. As a CDL A Driver, you will be responsible for transporting a variety of cargo, including refrigerated goods, hazardous materials, and specialty freight, utilizing your expertise in truck driving and route management. Your dedication will help keep our operations running smoothly and our customers satisfied.
Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers across over-the-road (OTR) routes, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques or truck loading equipment, ensuring cargo is secured properly for transit.
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems to meet delivery schedules while optimizing fuel efficiency.
- Transport hazardous materials and dangerous goods following hazardous materials regulations and safety protocols.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety concerns before departure and upon return.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery documentation, and cargo manifests in accordance with FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route changes, delays, or safety issues to ensure smooth operations.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving with tractor-trailers or similar heavy-duty vehicles.
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and automobile transportation methods.
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance standards, hazardous materials regulations, and safety procedures for dangerous goods.
- Proficiency in using GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time navigation adjustments.
- Ability to load & unload freight safely using manual handling techniques or specialized equipment; experience with freight logistics cargo handling is preferred.
- Skilled in manual transmission operation and truck loading/unloading procedures to ensure cargo integrity during transit.
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, adherence to DOT hours-of-service rules, and defensive driving techniques.
