The Porchlight is looking for a dependable, hard-working team member to join our kitchen crew. This is a part-time position that combines food preparation, dishwashing, stocking, and general kitchen support in a fun, fast-paced café and taproom environment.
We're not a traditional restaurant kitchen. Most of our menu consists of flatbreads, wraps, salads, and other items that are assembled and prepared according to recipes and quality standards. Previous experience in pizza shops, sandwich shops, cafés, coffee shops, delis, or other fast-casual food service environments is highly valued.
We're looking for someone who enjoys staying busy, takes pride in keeping a clean workspace, and is willing to jump in wherever help is needed.
Pay & Benefits

Schedule
- Part-time position
- Approximately 5–15 hours per week after training
- Shifts may be scheduled anytime between 7:00 AM and 9:00 PM
- Open Monday through Saturday
- Flexible scheduling available
Availability
We are happy to work around school, family, or another job. However, applicants should be available to work at least:
- One evening shift per month
- One Saturday shift per month
Additional availability is appreciated and may lead to more hours as the business grows.
Responsibilities
- Prepare sandwiches, salads, pizzas, and other menu items
- Assemble food according to recipes and quality standards
- Wash dishes and maintain a clean kitchen
- Receive and put away deliveries
- Stock food, beverages, and supplies
- Take out trash
- Assist with kitchen cleaning and closing duties
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
- Support both front and back of house operations as needed
Qualifications
- Food service experience preferred but not required
- Experience with pizza, sandwich, café, deli, or fast-casual concepts is a plus
- Ability to work independently and stay productive during slower periods
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout a shift
- Reliable transportation and strong attendance record
- Positive attitude and team-first mindset
Preferred Qualifications
- Age 21+ strongly preferred
- Ability to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card before your first shift
- Ability to obtain a Washington State MAST Permit
