American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a Level III neonatal intensive care position requiring NRP certification and proficiency with high-acuity neonatal care including ventilator management and arterial line care.

Level III NICU setting within a hospital environment
-
Cares for neonates from 22 weeks gestation and above, including those under 24-28 weeks, with conditions such as respiratory distress, glucose dysregulation, and neonates requiring surgical or cardiac interventions

Specialized procedures include arterial line management, central line care, umbilical artery and vein catheter management, and neonatal abstinence syndrome interventions

Respiratory management includes ventilator settings and adjustments across AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP modes

Medications administered include IV vasopressors, surfactants, and steroids via the Pyxis medication system

EMR: Epic

Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30

Active OH RN license or a compact RN license (must be active at time of consideration)

Current certifications required: BLS and NRP

Experience in Level III and/or Level IV NICU settings required

Competency in cardiovascular dysrhythmia interpretation and management
-
Proficiency with gastrointestinal feeding methods and management of oral, nasogastric, and nasojejunal tubes

Expertise in infection control measures and IV therapy, including umbilical artery and vein catheter management

2 professional references required: at least 1 must be from a Manager, Director, or formal leadership role (e.g., Supervisor); a Charge RN is acceptable as the 2nd reference; co-worker references are not accepted

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including NPs, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, respiratory services, social services, interpretation services, and unit secretaries

SBAR communication method is used for interactions with healthcare providers and families

Candidates with prior experience at a children's hospital will receive special consideration

Former employees of the facility are eligible to return for a travel assignment after a 6-month separation period

Local candidates are accepted

Any requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront and is limited to 7 days or fewer for the contract period

Ohio state fingerprinting is required and must be completed promptly after booking — candidates outside Ohio will need to travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location or complete a mailed fingerprinting packet upon receipt
