The Department of Financial Services is seeking candidates for the position of Senior Deputy Superintendent for CPFED. This position will assist the Executive Deputy Superintendent for CPFED in the administration of the Division. The incumbent will work closely with the Executive Deputy and other CPFED staff to ensure effective development and implementation of agency strategy and operations of programs. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Serves as advisor to the Executive Deputy Superintendent for CPFED on strategic and operational matters;
- Assists in coordinating agency activities with internal and external parties;
- Assists in coordinating CPFED’s operation and policy, including by advising the Executive Deputy Superintendent on various operation and policy issues;
- Assists in setting the strategic direction for CPFED and ensuring the incorporation of the Executive Deputy Superintendent’s philosophy and vision;
- Recommends changes to respond to issues facing the agency or to enhance operational efficiency;
- Assists in the coordination of information flow between the Executive Deputy Superintendent and staff;
- Follows up with staff on issue resolution and implementation of decisions;
- Gathers information on various issues from staff and briefs the Executive Deputy Superintendent on such issues;
- Effectuates execution of agency initiatives;
- Liaises with various external groups on important issues and works cooperatively with them on matters of mutual interest;
- Oversees special projects to enable the Executive Deputy Superintendent to successfully carry out the mission of the agency;
- Identifies problems and proposes solutions to correct such problems;
- Drafts a variety of documents for the Executive Deputy Superintendent;
- Represents the Executive Deputy Superintendent at various events; and
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Preferred Qualifications
- Admission to the New York State bar in good standing and at least 8 years of post-bar legal experience in the financial services industry.
Appointment Method:
This is an appointment to a position in the exempt jurisdictional class. As such, the incumbent of this position would serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority.

Salary: $172,787 - $213,995 (salary commensurate with experience)
Positions located within the New York City metropolitan area, as well as Suffolk, Nassau, Rockland, and Westchester Counties, are also eligible to receive an additional $4,000 annual downstate adjustment.
Appointment Status: This is an appointment to a position in the exempt jurisdictional class.
Appointment to this position is pending Governor Appointment’s Office and Division of Budget approval.
