What You’ll Do:
- Assisting with engaging activities like art, music, storytelling, and outdoor play
- Assist with breaks and lunches for other employees
- Supporting the daily curriculum
- Keeping classrooms clean
- Assisting with lunch and snack prep and clean up
- Cleaning kitchen and bathroom spaces
- Assist with nap time
- Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to teach children
- Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments
- Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers or colors, do crafts etc.)
- Supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times
- Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards
Available Part-Time Shifts:
- Monday–Friday 7:30 AM – 11:30 AM
- Monday-Friday 11:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Skills & Experience:
- Time as a childcare assistant, classroom aide, or para educator (entry-level is welcome)
- Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and early learning educational methods
- Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
- Outstanding communication and instructional skills
- Ability to act as mediator between children
- Paitent, friendly, and reliable
- Engaging with children at their level throughout the day
Education & Physical Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED (or currently enrolled in high school)
- Coursework or certification in Early Childhood Education is a plus
- Moving, bending, kneeling, and sitting on the floor
- Lifting up to 50 lbs
To be considered for an Interview you must have the following:
- MERIT account setup (username/password)
- STARS ID
- Cleared DCYF background check
- Negative TB test (within the last year)
- WA Food Handler’s Card
- Complete DCYF training requirements (within 30 days of hire)
- Complete 30 hours of Childcare Basics training (within 90 days of hire)
- Initial & Short Stackable ECE Certificate (may be completed or currently enrolled)
