About the Role
Buffalo Roll Form is seeking a Rollforming Machine Operator to run our new KFS
FrameMaker 1420G2 rollforming system, producing cold-formed steel (CFS) framing
components — studs, track, and related profiles — for our construction projects. This is a
hands-on production role that combines machine operation, computer-controlled
manufacturing, quality control, and material handling. The right candidate is mechanically
inclined, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with production software.
What You’ll Do
Machine Operation
Set up, operate, and monitor the FrameMaker 1420G2 rollforming line, including the
6,500-lb decoiler
Load steel coils safely using appropriate lifting equipment (forklift, crane, or coil
handler)
Run production jobs through the AMS control system and ScotSteel software suite,
importing framing files and managing production queues
Operate and adjust punch toolkits (web service holes, large service holes, track slotting,
adjustable rectangular punch, flange dimpling) per job requirements
Perform shear blade and die changeovers for profile-specific runs
Operate and maintain the inkjet labeling printer to ensure accurate part labeling for
framing assembly
Quality Control
Verify part dimensions, punch locations, lengths, and labeling against shop drawingsand cut lists
Perform first-article inspections at the start of each run and periodic checks throughout
Identify and flag material defects, coil issues, or machine faults before they affect
production
Maintain production logs and material usage records
Maintenance & Housekeeping
Perform daily and scheduled preventive maintenance (lubrication, blade inspection,
sensor cleaning, tooling checks)
Manage the spare parts inventory and report low stock or worn components
Keep the machine area clean, organized, and free of safety hazards
Troubleshoot minor faults and coordinate with the manufacturer’s service support for
larger issues
Production Support
Read and interpret framing shop drawings, panel drawings, and cut lists
Bundle, label, and stage finished components for delivery or panel assembly
Communicate production status, delays, and material needs to the project/production
manager
Assist with panel assembly or other shop duties as needed
What We’re Looking For
Required
2+ years of experience operating production machinery (rollforming, CNC, press brake,
or similar metal fabrication equipment preferred)
Comfort using computer-controlled equipment and production software; able to learn
ScotSteel and the AMS control system quickly
Ability to read tape measures, calipers, and shop/framing drawings accurately
Mechanical aptitude — comfortable with tooling changes, adjustments, and basic
troubleshooting
Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and stand for extended periodsStrong attention to detail and commitment to safety procedures
Reliable attendance and a team-first attitude
Preferred
Experience with cold-formed steel framing production or light-gauge steel construction
Experience with Scottsdale/ScotSteel, FRAMECAD, Howick, or similar CFS rollforming
systems
Forklift and/or overhead crane certification
Familiarity with steel coil handling and storage
Basic understanding of construction framing (studs, track, headers, panels)
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Shop/manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving machinery, and sharp
steel edges
Required PPE: safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed boots, cut-resistant gloves
Frequent standing, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and material handling
Occasional overtime during high-production periods
