Duties
- Operate commercial dishwashing equipment to thoroughly clean dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen tools in accordance with food safety sanitizing procedures
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as chopping, peeling, and assembling ingredients under supervision
- Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen surfaces, floors, and storage areas through regular cleaning routines
- Support bussing duties by clearing tables promptly and transporting used dishware to the dishwashing station
- Follow strict sanitation standards to ensure proper food handling and prevent contamination or health hazards
- Handle manual tasks including heavy lifting of pots, pans, and supplies safely while adhering to kitchen health and safety standards
- Assist with basic food safety management practices to ensure compliance with local regulations and restaurant policies
Skills
- Proven experience in food service or restaurant environments with knowledge of kitchen operations
- Strong understanding of food safety sanitizing procedures and sanitation practices
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely, including heavy lifting and prolonged standing
- Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment such as dishwashers, sinks, and basic food prep tools
- Excellent cleaning skills with an eye for detail to maintain a hygienic workspace
- Basic knife skills for assisting with food prep when needed
- Knowledge of catering or large-scale food handling is a plus but not required
