This is a contractual independent contractor (1099) position and is not a W-2 employee role.
D.A.F.T. Youth Services INC is seeking a dedicated and organized Assistant Director to support the Executive Director in overseeing youth programming and day-to-day operations. This role is essential in ensuring that programs run smoothly, remain aligned with the organization’s mission, and provide a safe, engaging environment for all participants. An MSW is preferred; however, candidates with a bachelor’s degree in a related field and meaningful experience working with middle school–aged youth will also be considered. We strongly value applicants who understand the social-emotional and developmental needs of the students we serve.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with the planning and delivery of after-school program focused on social-emotional learning, restorative practices, and youth leadership
- Building strong relationships with students and families while modeling core values like love, respect, integrity, self-discipline, persistence and faith.
- Participating in communication with schools, community partners, and caregivers to e
- Represent the organization at public speaking engagements, community events, and stakeholder meetings to promote programs and foster partnerships
- Ensuring all participants follow program policies, including those related to safety, conduct, and confidentiality
- Assisting with the coordination of events, such as award ceremonies and community projects, and trips
- Represent the organization professionally with partners, sponsors, and the community
- Schedule and attend bi weekly staff meetings
Qualifications
- Associates/Bachelor’s degree required in Human Services, Education, Counseling, Nonprofit Management, or a related field; Master of Social Work (MSW) or related graduate degree preferred.
- Minimum of 1–3 years of experience working directly with youth, preferably middle school-aged students, in an educational, nonprofit, social services, or community-based setting.
- Experience supporting youth with diverse social, emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, restorative practices, social-emotional learning (SEL), and positive youth development approaches (training preferred; willingness to learn required).
- Experience with event planning, community engagement, outreach, or partnership development preferred.
- Must demonstrate alignment with D.A.F.T.’s core values of Love, Respect, Integrity, Self-Discipline, Persistence, and Faith.
- Must successfully complete required background checks
- Preferred But not required :
- Knowledge of the Newburgh community and the unique strengths and challenges facing local youth and families.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
Pay: $25.00 per hour
