The Telemetry/Neurology Unit at Tradition Hospital specializes in the monitoring of various neurological conditions and diagnoses. Many of these patients are post-stroke patients who have been downgraded from the PCU or ICU. As an RN on this team, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care, from initial introduction to final send-off. In this role, you will interact directly with patients, families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare education as needed. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering education and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills.
A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) variable shifts.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Provide direct nursing care.
- Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
- Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing protocol.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
- Educate patients and their families, considering cultural issues and other special concerns.
- Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
- Maintain professional growth and development through ongoing formal and informal education and clinical nursing study.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
- One year of current acute care RN experience OR licensed military RN experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross – if you do not hold this certification, you will need to obtain it within one year of hire
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification – if you do not hold this certification, you will need to obtain it within 30 days of hire
