Como Park Animal Hospital - 24 Hour Care is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician/CVT for a Full-Time Emergency / Urgent Care position.
We are part of a privately-owned 24-hour AAHA-accredited animal hospital, which provides primary care during the days, and urgent/emergency care during the days and evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays. Patients include dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, pocket pets and some exotics. We actively encourage staff development, especially in relation to emergency medicine and exotic medicine.
Overnight and weekends needed.
Level: Experienced / Certified
DUTIES
Our Technicians:
- triage (on the phone and in person)
- emergency stabilization
- inpatient and outpatient care
- diagnostics (extensive in house lab suite, digital radiology, ultrasound)
- surgical assisting and anesthesia
- client communication and education
- and more. You will use your skills!!
REQUIREMENTS
You must:
- Have at least 2 year of veterinary work experience (ER and exotics experience a plus) or education related to veterinary medicine.
- Be able to work independently and in a team.
- Be able and willing to work 12 hour shifts shifts (8am-8pm and/or 8pm - 8am).
- Be able to lift 35 lbs., to be on your feet for hours at a time, and spend a good amount of time in front of a computer screen.
- Have strong anesthesia and patient monitoring skills.
- Have good lab / diagnostic skills.
- Have good communication skills and be able to think on your feet in unusual situations.
As a plus, it would be great if you:
- Have Cornerstone experience, or other EMR
- Have exotics care / handling experience
- Have worked overnights before
- CVT or ability to become CVT/LVT
Credentialed or licensed technicians preferred, but not a requirement for consideration.
WORK DETAILS
Hours will consist of overnight shifts (8pm - 8am), and a combination of some weekend shifts (varied). Some holidays will be required (most hours qualify for holiday pay). We offer a $3-6 /hr shift differential after 8pm and on weekends.
