Job Summary
We’re looking for a reliable and motivated bilingual (English/Spanish) team member to join our growing scrap recycling operation. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with people, staying organized, and being part of a fast-paced, hands-on environment. You’ll be responsible for purchasing incoming scrap materials, processing customer transactions, and supporting daily office and dispatch operations. Microsoft Excel experience is required, and training will be provided for scrap material grading and yard procedures.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Purchase incoming scrap materials from customers
- Accurately enter customer and transaction data into the system
- Pay customers by cash or check and balance the cash drawer daily
- Maintain customer records, including valid driver’s licenses
- Direct customers safely through the yard to proper drop-off locations
- Provide friendly, professional customer service in person and over the phone
- Answer and transfer calls; take clear and accurate messages
- Prepare packing slips, bills of lading, and shipping documents
- Assist the Dispatcher with:
- Inbound scrap tickets
- Driver schedules and daily communication
- Inbound and outbound material records
- Faxing, emailing, and organizing documentation
- Use Microsoft Excel to track pricing, reports, and operational data
- Perform general administrative duties as needed
What We’re Looking For
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
- High school diploma or GED
- Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Strong attention to detail and basic math skills
- Customer-focused with good communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Previous office, dispatch, customer service, or industrial experience is a plus
- Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals is a plus (training available)
