Delaware Arthritis, Rheumatology Consultants of Delaware, Dr. Jose Pando is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant specializing in Rheumatology to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide comprehensive rheumatologic care, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of autoimmune and musculoskeletal conditions.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong clinical background, exceptional patient assessment skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals to deliver outstanding patient care. This position emphasizes a proactive approach to patient health, utilizing advanced practice provider expertise within a collaborative practice framework.
Duties
- Conduct thorough patient evaluations, including medical histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic assessments specific to rheumatologic conditions.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in accordance with current clinical guidelines and evidence-based practices.
- Prescribe medications, including biologic agents and corticosteroids, while adhering to DEA regulations and institutional protocols.
- Perform procedures such as joint injections, aspiration, and other minimally invasive interventions as needed.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems for accurate documentation, order entry, and communication with multidisciplinary teams.
- Collaborate with rheumatologists, primary care providers, radiologists, and other specialists to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Educate patients on disease management strategies, medication adherence, lifestyle modifications, and symptom monitoring.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives or quality improvement projects aimed at advancing rheumatologic care standards.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with current state licensure in good standing.
- Demonstrated experience in rheumatology or related fields such as internal medicine or immunology; experience with autoimmune diseases is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with Athenahealth is advantageous.
- Knowledge of pharmacologic treatments including DMARDs (disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs), biologics, and corticosteroids.
- Strong clinical assessment skills with the ability to interpret laboratory results and imaging studies pertinent to rheumatology.
- Experience performing joint injections, aspiration procedures, and other outpatient interventions.
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Familiarity with CPT coding for billing purposes; understanding of HIPAA regulations for patient privacy compliance.
- Additional skills such as telehealth experience, medical documentation expertise, and familiarity with ICD coding are desirable.
