REGIONAL SPLICING MANAGER
The Regional Splicing Manager, in Austin TX, oversees fiber optic splicing, testing, and closeout activities across multiple projects, ensuring all work meets industry standards and customer requirements. This role manages regional planning, scheduling, and crew coordination while upholding the highest safety and quality standards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Supervise the planning, scheduling, and execution of fiber splicing projects to ensure productivity, quality, and safety standards are met.
- Track production metrics and manage budgets to maintain project timelines and deliverables.
- Oversee all field activities including splicing, testing, and closeout deliverables, ensuring compliance with customer and industry standards.
- Lead safety meetings and job hazard analyses to uphold a safe work environment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and cut sheets to plan and sequence work.
- Ensure proper use of testing equipment such as OTDRs and power meters to verify network performance.
- Inspect fiber splice enclosures for proper installation, grounding, bonding, and sealing.
- Mentor and develop supervisors and technicians to strengthen team performance and leadership capability.
- Coordinate crews, materials, and equipment across projects to maximize efficiency and meet regional goals.
- Review test results and closeout documentation for accuracy before client submission.
- Collaborate with project management, engineering, and construction teams to align regional operations and resolve complex issues.
- Provide technical input for estimating, planning, and process improvement initiatives.
- Enforce companywide safety, quality, and compliance standards across all regional operations.
- Serve as the primary regional contact for clients on technical and operational matters.
- Ensure accurate, timely submission of as-builts, test results, and other project documentation.
- All other duties as assigned.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3+ years of leadership experience
- 5+ years of experience as a fiber optic splicing technician
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, splice plans, work orders, and cut sheets
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Email, and tools like Google Earth and AutoCAD
- Strong leadership, communication, and team coordination skills
- The physical activity required for this role includes:
- travel as needed for site visits, client meetings and business operations
- site visits in a range of weather conditions, including hot and cold weather
- Walking on uneven and variable terrain
- Sitting, standing, walking for extended periods in an office environment
- Frequently standing, walking, stooping, reaching, climbing, bending and reaching
- Manual dexterity for computer use, files and office equipment
- lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
