Job Summary: The furniture fabrication laborer completes furniture pieces to support the assembly line. All furniture is fabricated for a specific boat. This job involves gluing carpet to the furniture base frames and installing the seat cushions, speakers, cup holders, etc. onto the furniture bases. The finished furniture is then placed in the staging area, ready to be installed on the boat.
Key Responsibilities:
Adheres to all safety policies and procedures
Follows all pre-established installation and quality methods, procedures and guidelines to ensure consistency of work
Reads order-specific job travelers and/or engineered drawings to ensure each order is produced to specifications
Uses various hand and power tools to fabricate furniture bases and assemble furniture
Completes all job duties within given time constraints
Performs other duties as assigned
Cross-trains between several different jobs
Empties furniture trailers, replaces empty glue tank, and does laundry as needed
Cleans and maintains work area
Pursues continuous improvement to improve efficiency of job duties and work flow
Job Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
Attention to detail
Excellent problem solving skills
Good verbal and written communication skills
Needs good visual judgment to notice errors and/or defects
Ability to accurately read a tape measure
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to work in a fast paced, multifunctional team oriented work environment
Ability to work variable hours with short notice (up to 50+ hrs. per week)
Physical Requirements and Environment
Must be physically capable of safely lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. without assistance
Involves standing, bending, and lifting for long periods as required
Requires repetitive movement and extensive use of hands
Includes exposure to noise levels that are distracting and/or uncomfortable
Requires wearing personal protective equipment
