Job Summary
Our family owned business of 44 years is seeking a dedicated and energetic Assistant Teacher to join our vibrant early childhood education team. This full-time role offers flexible scheduling options from either 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., providing an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on young children’s development. As an Assistant Teacher, you will support lead teachers in creating a nurturing, safe, and engaging environment for children in preschool and daycare settings. Your enthusiasm and commitment will help foster a love of learning while ensuring each child's individual needs are met with care and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers in implementing age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote early childhood development and learning.
- Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, nap times, and transitions to ensure safety at all times.
- Support children with daily routines, including diapering, potty training, and personal hygiene practices in accordance with health and safety standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized classroom environment that encourages exploration and independence among children.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress, behaviors, and daily experiences to foster strong home-school connections.
- Follow mandated reporting laws by recognizing signs of abuse or neglect and reporting concerns promptly and appropriately.
- Support classroom management strategies that promote positive behavior, social skills, and emotional regulation among children.
- Must be able to get on / off floor and lift a child up to 30 pounds
Experience
- Prior experience working with young children in preschool, daycare, nannying, babysitting, or similar caregiving roles is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of child development instruction principles and early childhood education best practices is essential.
- Previous experience working within daycare centers or early childhood education environments will support success in this role.
