American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med-Surg/Telemetry position at a Level I Trauma facility in Washington, requiring active WA or Compact RN licensure and a minimum of 1 year of acute care experience.

Acute care hospital setting, Level I Trauma Center

Med-Surg/Telemetry unit (North Tower 5) with 18 beds
-
Patient population includes medical-surgical overflow: CHF, DM, UTI, non-critical sepsis, HTN, COPD, isolation, end-of-life/palliative, awaiting placement, and post-op general surgery patients

Patient ratio of 1:4 or 1:5 RN to patient; CNA support at 1:9
-
RNs are required to titrate drips, limited to Heparin and Cardizem (up to 10mg/hr)

RNs are required to read telemetry strips; Telemetry/Monitor Techs are present on the unit
-
CPAP and BiPAP in use; High Flow oxygen is not used on this unit

Charting via Epic EMR

12-hour night shifts
-
Every other weekend (EOW) required

Holiday coverage preferred; details to be discussed during the manager phone interview

No call or standby requirements

Floating required as needed; travelers are first to float

Active WA state or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses will not be accepted

Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications will not be accepted
-
Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in acute care required

2 years of experience preferred

BSN not required

A copy of your driver's license is required for consideration

2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years — both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Orientation consists of 2 shifts

Charge RN provides unit leadership and oversight; Nurse Aides are present on the unit

No specific scrub color required

Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
