The Extraction Technician is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient extraction of cannabinoids and terpenes from cannabis biomass in a production lab environment. This role supports daily extraction operations, post-processing, equipment maintenance, and documentation in accordance with state regulations, GMP standards, and company SOPs.
Key ResponsibilitiesExtraction & Processing
- Perform cannabis extraction using approved methods (e.g., hydrocarbon, ethanol, CO₂) following established SOPs
- Operate and monitor extraction, recovery, and post-processing equipment
- Assist with winterization, solvent recovery, distillation, and/or refinement processes as required
- Accurately weigh, label, and track biomass, intermediates, and finished extracts
Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain detailed batch records, logs, and production documentation
- Follow all state cannabis regulations, safety protocols, and company SOPs
- Ensure proper chain-of-custody and seed-to-sale tracking (e.g., METRC or equivalent)
- Support internal audits and regulatory inspections as needed
Quality & Safety
- Adhere to lab safety standards, PPE requirements, and hazardous material handling procedures
- Identify and report deviations, equipment issues, or quality concerns
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant lab environment
Equipment & Facility Support
- Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and calibration of lab equipment
- Assist with troubleshooting extraction systems and ancillary equipment
- Support inventory management of solvents, consumables, and lab supplies
Qualifications Required
- High school diploma or GED
- Prior experience in cannabis extraction, manufacturing, or laboratory production
- Strong understanding of lab safety and compliance practices
- Ability to follow detailed SOPs and work in a fast-paced production environment
- Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 lbs
Preferred
- Experience with hydrocarbon, ethanol, or CO₂ extraction systems
- Familiarity with GMP, cGMP, or food/pharmaceutical manufacturing environments
- Experience with seed-to-sale tracking systems
- Background in chemistry, biology, or related technical field
