DONOR RELATIONS MANAGER
This position develops and implements strategic engagement plans for monthly and mid-level donors. The successful candidate will lead donor-facing engagement initiatives, including external special events. This position also will serve as a key relationship builder across Food Bank of Iowa's 55-county service area, cultivating and maintaining partnerships with chambers of commerce, community foundations, regional donors and other stakeholders to advance our mission and fundraising goals.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
- Manage, deepen and strengthen relationships with monthly donors (Meal Makers) through regular interactions, including face-to-face, phone, email and handwritten correspondence
- Identify, cultivate, solicit and thank individual, mid-level donors
- Explore opportunities for major gifts
- Manage an assigned portfolio with the highest professional and ethical standards, focusing on donor engagement and retention
- Ask for donations and meet fundraising goals.
- Identify and solicit program support in coordination with the regional partnership team
- Lead regional relationship building
- Lead fundraising events such as The Walking Fed, Combat Hunger, golf event, Food Bank of Iowa Day at the Iowa State Fair, etc.
- Reinforce a culture of philanthropy among all stakeholders
- Establish and maintain standard operating procedures and appropriate internal control safeguards
- Incorporate trained volunteers where applicable and beneficial
Qualifications:
- Commitment to Food Bank of Iowa’s vision, mission and values
- Professional maturity, good judgment, integrity and honesty.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or three to five years of demonstrated success in fundraising
- Curiosity and genuine desire to help philanthropists meet their giving goals
- Ability and desire to be out of the office 50-75% of the time, meeting with prospects and donors
- Aptitude for quick analysis, interpretation and translation of information
- Excellent interpersonal, organization and communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy, along with the ability to manage multiple projects.
