Position Summary
The Associate is responsible for supporting the firm’s tax and accounting services by preparing financial statements, tax returns, and related reporting for clients. The role requires consistent analytical work, attention to detail, and the ability to meet strict regulatory and filing deadlines, particularly during peak tax season and all deadline requirements.
Essential Job Functions
Tax Preparation and Compliance
- Prepare federal and state income tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts.
- Prepare tax projections and analyze tax implications for various transactions.
- Research tax issues and summarize findings to propose solutions to management team and partners.
- Interpret and apply federal and state tax law changes.
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns and compliance with applicable regulations.
- Ensure timely and accurate filings for other ad hoc compliance filings including: business property tax, city business licenses, annual statement of information, payroll, sales tax, etc.
Accounting and Financial Reporting
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and compilations.
- Record and review journal entries.
- Perform general ledger analysis and account reconciliations.
- Maintain organized workpapers and documentation supporting financial and tax work.
Client and Project Management
- Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Coordinate workflow and project timelines independently, with managers and partners.
- Communicate with internal team members regarding client status, deadlines and deliverables.
Professional Development and Team Support
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending training and reviewing professional publications.
- Participate in staff training and mentoring when appropriate.
- Provide feedback and assist with team collaboration to improve workflow efficiency

- Ability to thoroughly comprehend tax forms, entity type setup, and basic multi-state returns.

Software and Technical Skills
Proficiency with the following systems or similar software:
- CCH Axcess Tax
- QuickBooks Desktop
- QuickBooks Online
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of public accounting experience with preparation of individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns.
- Master’s degree in Taxation or related field preferred.
- CPA track preferred.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
