Our private practice medical group specializing in Pulmonology, Sleep Medicine and Internal Medicine seeks a licensed and credentialed Respiratory Therapist or Pulmonary Function Technologist to perform Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs) among other duties.
OVERVIEW
The Respiratory Therapist / Pulmonary Function Tech performs diagnostic evaluation of pulmonary function in patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform ordered pulmonary function testing according to latest standards and meeting criteria required for sending test results.
- Accurately document results and promptly report testing results.
- Monitor and evaluate patient response during and after testing.
- Prepare, maintain, and calibrate pulmonary function testing equipment.
- Ensure adequate levels of supplies used for testing are on hand.
- Provide basic respiratory education to patients.
- Other duties for which employee is qualified as required
REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduation from an accredited respiratory therapy program.
- Current Virginia Respiratory Therapist license or RT-Applicant license
- Current or in-process credential as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
PREFERRED:
- One or more years of respiratory therapy experience with patients
- Experience with Athena EHR
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND APTITUDES
- Knowledge of spirometry, flow volume loops, DLCO, lung volumes, bronchodilator and methacholine measurements and calibration.
- Strong verbal, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
- Basic computer and clerical skills
- Must be caring in nature and sensitive to the needs of patients
- Must interface well with a diverse population of colleagues, doctors, and patients
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Required to stand and walk for most of the day
- Required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
- Required to balance, bend, stoop, kneel
- Required to talk and hear
- Required to operate equipment, read technical information, and use a keyboard
- Required to lift/push/carry items less than 25 pounds regularly/ occasionally up to 50 pounds
- Occasional exposure to airborne pathogens or infectious materials
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $34.00 - $43.00 per hour
