About the role:
The Phlebotomist will play a pivotal role in supporting specimen collection services within GenPrime's Los Angeles clinic, ensuring safe, accurate, and patient-centered blood draw procedures in compliance with CLI and California Department of Public Health regulations. This role requires clinical competence in venipuncture across diverse patient populations, a strong grasp of specimen handling and chain-of-custody protocols, and a commitment to delivering a calm, reassuring experience for every patient. The successful candidate will perform blood collections for a range of diagnostic and monitoring purposes, maintain meticulous documentation and labeling standards, and collaborate closely with clinical and laboratory teams to uphold the highest standards of specimen integrity and patient safety.
Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday | 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM (16 hours/week)
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws on adult and pediatric patients following standard protocols
- Verify patient identity and confirm test orders prior to specimen collection
- Label, process, and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis in accordance with established procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times
- Follow all infection control and OSHA safety guidelines
- Document collections accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) system
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, addressing questions and easing anxiety around the draw process
- Coordinate with clinical and laboratory staff to ensure timely specimen delivery and resolve any collection issues
- Assist with supply inventory and notify supervisor when restocking is needed
Requirements:
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification from a recognized certifying body (ASCP, NHA, AMT, or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year of phlebotomy experience in a clinical, laboratory, or outpatient setting
- Proficiency with venipuncture on a wide range of patient populations
- Familiarity with specimen processing and chain-of-custody procedures
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour
