Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during various procedures including restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, while maintaining proper radiation safety protocols.
- Record accurate medical and dental histories, vital signs, and other relevant patient information using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensure confidentiality of medical documentation.
- Provide chairside assistance using aseptic techniques and proper infection control procedures.
- Educate patients on oral health care instructions and post-treatment care.
- Manage appointment scheduling and coordinate with front desk staff to ensure smooth clinic operations.
- Assist with medical imaging procedures and understand dental terminology for effective communication within the team.
- Support infection control practices to maintain a sterile environment throughout the clinic.
- Collaborate with the team on special projects related to pediatrics or other specialized areas as needed.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is required; familiarity with general dentistry procedures is essential.
- Proficiency in Dentrix Ascend preferred.
- Experience with X-ray techniques, medical imaging, medical coding, and managing medical records is advantageous.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control standards, and aseptic techniques is mandatory.
- Background in pediatric dentistry or working with pediatric patients is a plus.
