Level 2 Machinist
Job Description
We are looking for a Level 2 Machinist to support daily production through safe machine operation, quality workmanship, and basic CNC and manual setups. This position is ideal for machinists with hands‑on experience who are ready to expand their skills and work toward advancement to a higher level.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate CNC and manual machining equipment
- Perform in‑process inspections to ensure parts meet print and quality standards
- Follow work instructions, SOPs, and company policies
- Set up parts using vises, fixtures, and work offsets
- Load, run, and safely test CNC programs prior to production
- Adjust wear offsets to maintain dimensional accuracy
- Troubleshoot basic machine or program issues and report concerns to supervision
- Accurately document setups, inspections, issues, and solutions
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Work effectively with team members and assist less experienced machinists
Required Skills and Experience
- 2–5 years of machining experience (manual and/or CNC)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work orders
- Strong basic math skills and right‑angle trigonometry
- Experience using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators)
- Basic knowledge of:
- CNC G & M codes
- Work offsets and tool offsets
- Canned cycles (drilling and tapping)
- GD&T fundamentals
- Ability to convert between inch and metric dimensions
Manual Machine Experience
- Manual lathe operation (turning and boring)
- Manual mill operation (face milling, slotting, drilling)
- Use of DROs for accurate positioning
- Ability to mount and indicate a vise
- Ability to square a mill spindle head
Education
High school diploma or equivalent with high school trigonometry or equivalent experience preferred.
Reporting Structure
Reports directly to the Shift Supervisor
Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
