Job Summary: The builder is responsible for assembling wooden box and crate products in accordance with the supplied print and as directed by the shop supervisor. Employee will have a 30 day trial period starting on their first day, at 30 days Built-Rite will do a review/check in to see if the position's requirements are being met, then at 90 days of employment there will be a review and determination if performance and attendance warrants an additional wage increase at that time. Regular and consistent attendance is expected for this position
Reports to: Shop Supervisor
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepares raw materials for assembly
- Assembles products per client specifications and Built-Rite’s quality standard
- Able to use and read a tape measure , nail gun, staple gun, drill and impact driver
- Learns and understands differences between actual and nominal lumber dimensions
- Maintains a safe work environment by following safety procedures, regularly checking equipment and locking out/tagging out equipment requiring service
- Maintains a clean work environment
- Works cooperatively with fellow shop team members
- Communicates proactively with supervisors and shop team to ensure production quality and efficiency
- Willing to be instructed on production improvements
Additional Duties & Responsibilities:
- Willing to switch from one task to another depending on shop production needs
- Preferred: Able to read shop drawings with little or no assistance
Physical Demands:
- Standing for long periods of time
- Repetitive motions
- Frequent bending, stooping, pushing and pulling of tools and wood products
- Heavy lifting from time-to-time
- Able to work in various temperature conditions
- Operating production tools and machinery
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Basic math skills with both whole numbers and fractions
- Educational equivalent to four years of high school or prior work experience demonstrating proficiency with the requirements of the position
- Preferred: One to two recommendation letters for experience within the last three years
