East Greenwich Public Schools is seeking applications for a Network Support Specialist. The Network Support Specialist analyzes, troubleshoots and evaluates computer network problems. The position responsibilities include maintaining the school districts networks and keeping the network safe and secure, through hardware configuration, support, and end-user training. Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesMaintain and support local area (LAN), wide area (WAN), wireless (WiFi), and IP phone networks Configure LAN and WAN switches/routers and peripheral equipment as neededSet up new users, provide access permissions to approved groups, applications, and configure security settingsAdministration of the district's mobile device management solution for mobile endpointsAssist in the administration of district security systems, including door access and network-attached cameras, as well as visitor and emergency management softwareEvaluate and document LAN and WAN data to ensure networks are performing at peak capacity, and recommend solutions to improve performance and resolve issuesSet up desktop computer equipment and install system software, including operating systems and user software packagesPlan and test backup and disaster recovery systems and maintain daily backupsAnalyze all attempted or successful network security breaches daily to determine breach cause, resolve related issues, and secure the network to prevent future infiltrationReview and respond to Help Desk ticketsPerform other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology or Superintendent of SchoolsDesired Minimum QualificationsEducation and ExperienceAssociate's Degree, Bachelors degree, and school district experience preferred;3 to 5 years of network and computer server experience;IT Help Desk and hardware and software testing experience;Network software experience, e.g., HP, Aruba, VMWare; Network monitoring, security, and OS software experience; Appropriate technology certificationsTools & Equipment Used The individual should be familiar with the operation of standard office equipment, including, but not limited to, personal computers, and spreadsheet and word processing software.Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
