Description:
The Department of Management (MGT) of the Marilyn Davies College of Business (MDCOB), at the University of Houston Downtown (UHD) invites applicants for one tenure-track Assistant Professor in Human Resource Management position, to begin in August 2027.
The selected candidate will have teaching responsibilities including but not limited to HR Analytics, Compensation and Benefits, SHRM-CP Preparation, Legal Issues in HRM, Staffing, Inclusion and Diversity, Human Resource Management, and Strategic Human Resource Management. In addition, the selected candidate is expected to engage with the SHRM Student Organization, regional chapters/associations, and Houston’s HR community. Furthermore, candidates must conduct scholarly research and serve the department, college, university, profession, and community.
Given the needs of MDCOB students, successful candidates must be willing to teach a variety of days, times, and modalities (i.e., face-to-face, online, hybrid, and hyflex). They will also need to teach both undergraduate and graduate students. Faculty are expected to teach courses offered at the primary campus located in downtown Houston, as well as off-campus locations in suburban, north Houston.
The MDCOB – home of one of the largest MBA programs in Texas – is accredited by AACSB and enrolls 3,500+ undergraduate and 600+ graduate students. MGT houses 20 full-time faculty members, 16 of whom are tenured/tenure track. Currently, the department offers majors in Management, Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship, and MBA Certificates in Human Resource Management and Leadership. It is also developing new programs to meet student and community needs. New faculty are expected to participate in these developments and help shape the future of the department and the college.
Qualifications
Candidates for the position must have a terminal degree in Management, Human Resource Management or related field. ABDs expecting to complete their degree by August 2027 are strongly encouraged to apply.
