Position Title: House Manager / Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Administrator / CEO
Compensation: Starting at $21.00–$24.00 per hour (Based on experience and certifications)
Position Summary
Ohio Home Group Care is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and highly organized House Manager to oversee the daily operations of a full-care residential home while providing direct support to an individual with significant medical and personal care needs.
This position combines leadership responsibilities with hands-on direct care. The House Manager is responsible for ensuring high-quality services are delivered, supervising staff assigned to the home, maintaining compliance with DODD and agency standards, and serving as the primary point of contact for the individual, medical professionals, family members, and agency administration.
The individual supported requires total assistance with activities of daily living and has a feeding tube. Experience working with medically fragile individuals is strongly preferred.
Essential Job DutiesDirect Support Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care while preserving the individual's dignity and independence.
- Assist with all Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including:
- Bathing
- Dressing
- Toileting
- Grooming
- Transfers
- Positioning
- Assist with mobility using gait belts, wheelchairs, lifts, and other adaptive equipment.
- Monitor the individual's health and report concerns immediately.
- Document services accurately and completely.
- Maintain the individual's ISP and implement all prescribed supports.
- Follow all physician orders and nursing instructions.
Feeding Tube Responsibilities
Although nursing staff primarily manage feeding tube care, the House Manager must:
- Understand the individual's feeding schedule.
- Monitor for concerns and immediately notify nursing staff.
- Assist nurses as directed.
- Observe for signs of infection or complications.
- Ensure supplies are stocked and readily available.
- Maintain feeding equipment according to policy.
House Management Responsibilities
The House Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the home, including:
- Supervising DSP staff.
- Training new employees on the individual's ISP and house routines.
- Completing and maintaining all required documentation.
- Ensuring staff complete documentation accurately and on time.
- Maintaining compliance with DODD, Medicaid Waiver, and Ohio Home Group Care policies.
- Completing weekly house inspections.
- Completing weekly household inventory.
- Submitting supply requests every Thursday.
- Maintaining an organized, clean, and safe environment.
- Ensuring medication documentation is complete (where applicable).
- Ensuring all appointments are scheduled and attended.
- Communicating with the Administrator regarding concerns.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Lead by example.
- Coach and mentor DSP staff.
- Address performance concerns promptly.
- Ensure staff maintain professionalism.
- Maintain positive communication with families, SSAs, nurses, and providers.
- Participate in ISP meetings.
- Assist with scheduling as needed.
- Help maintain appropriate staffing coverage.
Community Integration
Support the individual in:
- Community outings
- Recreational activities
- Medical appointments
- Shopping
- Dining
- Social events
- Skill-building activities
Always ensure outings are individualized and person-centered.
Documentation
Responsible for completing:
- Daily service documentation
- HPC documentation
- Incident reports
- Unusual Incident reports
- Behavior tracking
- Appointment documentation
- Communication logs
- Inventory logs
- House inspections
- Staff training documentation
Documentation must be completed before the end of each shift.
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Ohio Driver's License
- Acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass background checks
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Medication Administration Certification (preferred)
- DODD required training
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- Experience with medically fragile individuals preferred
- Previous leadership or management experience preferred
Physical Requirements
Applicants must be able to:
- Lift up to 75 pounds
- Push wheelchairs
- Assist with transfers
- Bend, squat, kneel, and stand for extended periods
- Respond to emergencies quickly
- Work 12-hour shifts when needed
