Cannabis Sales Associate
Location: San Jose, CA
Reports To: Operations Management & AGM
Position Summary
The Cannabis Sales Associate plays a key role in driving the success of our retail dispensary through exceptional customer engagement, expert product knowledge, and consistent achievement of sales goals. This role is responsible for maintaining high sales performance standards, including meeting and exceeding key performance indicators such as Average Order Value (AOV) and Units per Transaction (UPT).
In addition to driving sales, the Sales Associate supports day-to-day store operations including cash handling, order fulfillment, inventory processing, and ensuring a high standard of hospitality and compliance at all times.
This position includes a base hourly rate of $18.50/hour, plus average tips ranging between $7.00–$14.00/hour, depending on performance and store volume. There are no pooled tips at EWC, so you will keep 100% of what you are tipped.
Key ResponsibilitiesSales & Customer Engagement
● Execute all sales transactions with accuracy and enthusiasm while maintaining a strong focus on upselling and cross-selling.
● Strive to meet and exceed daily, weekly, and monthly AOV and KPI goals as outlined by management.
● Provide tailored product recommendations based on customer preferences, desired effects, and promotions.
● Build repeat customer relationships by offering a personalized and educational buying experience.
● Actively contribute to the store’s overall sales performance metrics through team collaboration and accountability.
Order Fulfillment
● Accurately fulfill all online, express, and pickup orders within required timeframes.
● Maintain order accuracy and ensure all products match their corresponding package ID and labeling requirements.
Inventory & Operational Support
● Assist with receiving, labeling, and organizing all incoming and outgoing product inventory.
● Ensure backstock and display areas are organized and compliant.
● Support the on-duty manager with operational duties including cash audits, opening/closing procedures, and shift transitions.
● Maintain operational readiness across FOH and BOH departments.
Team Collaboration & Communication
● Maintain consistent communication with Operations, Inventory, and Delivery teams to support smooth daily operations.
● Participate in team huddles and performance reviews focused on AOV, KPI performance, and upselling success.
● Provide feedback and suggestions to improve the store’s sales process and customer experience.
Confidentiality & Compliance
● Handle all sensitive company and customer data with professionalism and discretion.
● Ensure full compliance with company SOPs and DCC regulations during every transaction.
Additional Duties
● Support all store initiatives, promotional events, and brand activations to drive revenue.
● Perform any other duties as assigned to enhance the overall success and profitability of the store.
Skills & Qualifications
● Proven ability to hit and exceed sales targets, including AOV and KPI goals.
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on hospitality.
● Excellent cash management and point-of-sale (POS) proficiency. Treez POS experience is a plus.
● High attention to detail and organizational accuracy.
● Ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail environment.
● Stress management and time management under sales-driven conditions.
● Experience in cannabis retail or similar sales-focused environments preferred.

Physical Demands
This position requires long periods of standing, customer interaction, and light physical labor, including lifting up to 30 lbs.

This is a goal-oriented and metrics-driven position with sales deadlines. Candidates must be comfortable working under performance expectations and in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.
