Position Overview
The Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting daily accounting operations, financial reporting, project accounting, and job cost analysis. This position works closely with management and operations teams to ensure accurate financial records, monitor project profitability, and support strategic business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain the general ledger and prepare accurate journal entries
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
Perform monthly bank reconciliations and account reconciliations
Manage job cost accounting, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor expenses
Monitor project budgets and analyze cost variances to support project profitability
Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports
Support month-end and year-end closing processes
Maintain accurate financial records and documentation for projects, contracts, and vendor relationships
Assist with Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting and project financial analysis
Analyze financial data and provide insights to support business planning and decision-making
Assist with audits and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and internal controls
Collaborate with project managers and operational teams to support financial performance and forecasting
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
2+ years of accounting experience preferred
Construction, HVAC, contracting, or project-based industry experience is a plus
Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting best practices
Experience with job costing and WIP reporting preferred
Proficiency with ERP and accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, SAP, or similar systems
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
