Plan and lead a variety of activities with youth ages 5-11 within a specific program area, such as Academic Success, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, Outdoor/Environment, STEM, Life Skills and Physical Education.
The Youth Development Professional Responsibility Summary:
- Assisting in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating programs, services and activities
- Contributing to a healthy and safe environment, ensuring that facilities, equipment and supplies are properly maintained
- Monitoring members while in Club facilities and ensuring their overall safety
- Contributing to programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success
- Helping to create a Club environment that facilitates the achievement of desirable youth development outcomes

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position: Youth Development Professional
Reports To: Youth Development Professional, Unit Director and Lead Program Staff
Status: Part-Time / Hourly / Non-Exempt/Temporary

Summary:
Under the direction of the Unit Director, Program Director and Lead Staff, the Youth Development Professional will help ensure the safety of all Club members in their program areas. Provide programs and activities within a specific program area such as Arts & Crafts, Gym, Gamesroom, Education Center and Teen Center. A Youth Development Staff will provide the Lead Staff information to help deliver guidance & discipline while building relationships utilizing the Youth Development Strategy.
Qualifications:
-At least 18 years of age, experience working with youth preferred
-Reliable transportation
-Ability to pass a background check

Working Conditions:
Working hours may vary depending on activities and events. During the school year program, generally Monday – Friday between the hours of 6:00am-9:00am and 3:00pm – 6:00pm. During summer, staff work 9am-6pm.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes
- Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the branch at all times. Prepare periodic activity reports.
- Knowledge of youth development.
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
- Ensure that Club activities and discipline are appropriate and meet the mission and policies of the Boys & Girls Clubs.
- Coordinate with maintenance personnel about building repairs, needs, etc.
- Ensure the cleanliness of the facility and program areas.
- Provide guidance, leadership, support and supervision to all program managers.
- Ensure the successful operation of all Club programs and facilities.
- Ensure that positive and respectful relationships exist between staff, parents, members and community.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Attend weekly staff meetings
- Provide leadership and support in all Club programs, events and activities
- Participate in special events and activities outside of general hours
- May be responsible for driving Club van or bus
- Adhere to all policies and procedures published by the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Lewis Clark Valley
- Other duties as assigned
Relationships:
- Maintain positive and friendly interactions with various individuals who have contact with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Lewis Clark Valley (members, parents, visitors, volunteers, etc.)
- Maintain positive, friendly and professional interactions with fellow staff members
- Maintain open lines of communication and professional interaction with Club managers and supervisory staff
