CPA Pisarevsky is an accounting firm in Sheepshead Bay. We have been in business since 1997.
For more than 10 years, we have not used advertising. Our clients come to us through referrals and stay with us for many years.
Our office has licensed CPAs and Enrolled Agents.
We work with businesses and individuals.
For businesses, we provide:
- Bookkeeping
- Payroll
- Sales tax
- LLC, S-Corp and Corporation tax returns
For individuals, we prepare:
- Form 1040 tax returns
- Self-employed tax returns
- Responses to IRS notices
We have prepared thousands of tax returns.
We work all year, not only during tax season.
Our clients expect accurate work. That is why we need someone who believes that doing the job correctly and without mistakes is very important.
About the Position
You will prepare tax returns and do bookkeeping for our clients.
Automation helps us with more and more routine work, so we are not looking for someone who only enters numbers into a computer. We need someone who can understand the numbers and notice when something does not look right.
You will start with clear and familiar tasks. As you gain experience in our office, you will work on more complex cases and eventually manage your own clients and communicate with them directly.
What You Will Do
- Prepare individual and business tax returns
- Do bookkeeping for clients
- Process payroll
- Prepare sales tax returns
- Review your work before it is completed
- Ask questions when something is not clear
- Communicate with clients when necessary
- Over time, manage your own group of clients from start to finish
Checking your own work is an important part of the job. We prefer that you ask a question instead of guessing.
You May Be a Good Fit If
You have about 2–3 years of experience in a small CPA firm or tax office and understand how this type of office works.
You have experience with:
- Bookkeeping
- Payroll
- Sales tax
Experience with income tax is a big plus, including:
- Individual tax returns
- Corporate tax returns
- Partnership tax returns
Experience with CCH software is also a plus. If you have not used CCH before, we will teach you how to use our system.
You pay attention to details. For us, accuracy is more important than speed.
You speak Russian fluently and have working English.
You understand that tax season is busy and are ready to work six days a week during the busy season.
You are comfortable working in a small team and helping your coworkers when needed.
This Position Is Probably NOT for You If
Your only accounting experience is Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable in a large corporation. This work is very different from working in a small CPA or tax office, and we are not able to teach accounting from the very beginning.
This position is also not a good fit for someone who:
- Does only the minimum amount of work
- Does not help the team during busy season
- Needs the same thing explained many times
- Says they have a lot of experience but cannot answer basic practical tax questions
- Is not comfortable working with tax forms and schedules
If this sounds like you, this position will probably not be the right fit.
About Tax Season
From February through April, our office is very busy.
During this period, we work six days a week, the workload is higher, and there are important tax deadlines.
We want to be clear about this from the beginning. This is a normal part of working in the tax profession.
After tax season, the schedule becomes much more normal. We do not believe in unnecessary overtime, and we do not require employees to track every minute of their day like some large Manhattan firms.
We treat our employees like responsible adults.

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
