Responsibilities
- Administer dialysis treatments accurately and efficiently, ensuring adherence to prescribed protocols and safety standards.
- Monitor patient vital signs, physiological responses, and overall condition throughout dialysis sessions, promptly addressing any adverse reactions or complications.
- Assist with patient assessments, including reviewing medical histories, conducting physical examinations, and evaluating treatment responses.
- Maintain detailed and precise medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Prepare patients for procedures by establishing IV access, performing venipuncture, and managing catheter care using aseptic techniques.
- Educate patients and their families about dialysis procedures, medication administration, infection control practices, and lifestyle modifications for optimal health management.
- Collaborate with nephrologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to develop and update individualized care plans based on ongoing assessments.
Skills
- Proven experience with Epic EMR systems or similar EHR platforms such as eClinicalWorks or Athenahealth for accurate documentation.
- Strong background in critical care environments including hospital ICU, emergency medicine, or Level I Trauma Center settings.
- Extensive knowledge of dialysis procedures, IV infusion techniques, catheterization, and sterile processing protocols.
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to nephrology, cardiology, infectious disease care, and acute pain management.
- Skilled in patient assessment techniques including vital signs measurement, physiology knowledge, and diagnostic evaluation.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations including seniors requiring geriatrics or memory care services; working with individuals with disabilities is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills for triage assessments, patient education, and interdisciplinary collaboration; experience in home & community care is advantageous.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); additional certifications such as ICD coding or CPT coding are beneficial. Pay: $24.13 - $29.06 per hour
