Position Overview
The IT Professional Services – Senior Engineer is a highly autonomous, architect-level infrastructure leader responsible for designing and delivering enterprise networking and hybrid cloud solutions from pre-sales through post-deployment stabilization.
This role operates independently and owns full project lifecycle execution — including discovery, architecture, BOM validation, SOW alignment, executive presentations, implementation, testing, documentation, and transition to support.
This is not a ticket-based support role. It is a strategic engineering position focused on infrastructure transformation and enterprise delivery. Engineers whose experience is limited to helpdesk support, reactive ticket resolution, or primarily remote-only troubleshooting will not meet the requirements of this position.
This role is intended for engineers who have independently owned and delivered enterprise infrastructure projects end-to-end.
This position requires a high level of technical autonomy. There is no higher engineering escalation point for project delivery. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to research, design, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical challenges independently when solutions are not immediately known.
Core Responsibilities
Enterprise Network Architecture & Delivery
Architect and implement resilient, secure, multi-site LAN/WAN/WLAN infrastructures.
Lead complex deployments of HPE Aruba switching, routing, and wireless ecosystems.
Design and deploy advanced routing environments including:
BGP (multi-homing, failover, route control)
OSPF (multi-area design and redistribution)
VLAN segmentation, VRF, QoS, and traffic shaping strategies
Architect SD-WAN and secure edge solutions.
Design and implement firewall strategies utilizing SonicWall (NSA, TZ, HA pairs) and FortiGate platforms.
Engineer secure remote access platforms including SSL VPN, IPSec VPN, SASE strategies, and MFA integrations.
Develop zero-trust network segmentation strategies.
New Construction & Site Coordination
Lead network infrastructure planning for new construction and major renovation projects.
Design MDF/IDF layouts, rack elevations, structured cabling requirements, and pathway planning.
Review and validate low-voltage drawings and construction documents.
Coordinate with general contractors, electricians, low-voltage installers, ISP providers, and facilities teams.
Ensure proper cable plant standards (Cat6A, fiber backbone, labeling, certification testing).
Plan wireless coverage using predictive modeling based on architectural drawings.
Oversee infrastructure installation to ensure architectural integrity.
Participate in site walks, construction meetings, and milestone inspections.
Candidates must demonstrate familiarity with construction site protocols, phased buildouts, safety standards, and real-world deployment constraints.
HPE Aruba Professional Services Focus
Lead Aruba infrastructure projects from design through validation.
Perform predictive wireless design and RF optimization.
Architect Aruba CX switching environments and high-density WLAN deployments.
Implement Aruba Central cloud-managed ecosystems.
Validate bid specifications and align hardware selection with architectural goals.
Translate RFP requirements into optimized and technically sound BOMs.
Produce enterprise-grade diagrams and technical documentation.
Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure Architecture
Design hybrid environments integrating on-prem HPE infrastructure with Microsoft Azure.
Architect and implement:
Entra ID hybrid identity
Conditional Access frameworks
Zero Trust identity posture
Lead Azure landing zone design and governance planning.
Deploy and optimize:
Azure Virtual Desktop (enterprise deployments)
Intune / Endpoint Manager
Autopilot and device compliance frameworks
Support Microsoft 365 secure architecture and tenant hardening.
Provide cloud cost optimization analysis and right-sizing recommendations.
Lead virtualization transitions (VMware or equivalent platforms).
Full Lifecycle Project Ownership
This role independently executes projects from beginning to end:
Conduct executive-level discovery sessions.
Translate business requirements into scalable technical architecture.
Collaborate with sales on scope refinement and technical alignment.
Validate and optimize hardware BOMs.
Participate in bid responses and technical proposal reviews.
Lead kickoff meetings and stakeholder presentations.
Execute implementation without architectural oversight.
Perform testing, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
Deliver complete documentation packages.
Transition environments to managed services or client IT teams.
Automation & Operational Engineering
Develop automation using PowerShell, Python, or API integrations.
Improve deployment efficiency and reduce manual configuration.
Enhance monitoring, alerting, and proactive remediation strategies.
Contribute to disaster recovery planning and infrastructure resiliency improvements.
Conduct infrastructure assessments and security reviews.
Technical Leadership
Act as final escalation point for complex infrastructure and project-related issues.
Demonstrate the ability to independently research and resolve unfamiliar technical challenges.
Mentor engineers and elevate internal technical standards.
Establish architectural best practices across networking and hybrid cloud environments.
Present technical strategies and recommendations to executive stakeholders.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience in a dedicated Network Engineer role OR demonstrable equivalent experience through a documented project portfolio.
7+ years of experience operating in a senior-level infrastructure or network engineering role preferred.
Demonstrated experience leading new construction or major renovation infrastructure deployments.
Proven ability to independently design and deliver multi-site enterprise environments.
Advanced hands-on expertise with HPE Aruba switching and wireless platforms.
Strong experience with BGP, OSPF, VLAN segmentation, and failover design.
SD-WAN and advanced firewall architecture experience.
Deep knowledge of Microsoft hybrid identity and Azure architecture.
Proven ability to lead full lifecycle infrastructure projects independently.
Strong written and executive-level communication skills.
OSHA 10 Certification is required. Candidates without OSHA 10 must obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
Preferred & Highly Favorable Certifications
Certifications are valued; however, demonstrated real-world architecture, design, and delivery experience carries significantly more weight than credentials alone. Candidates who have successfully designed and implemented complex enterprise environments without formal certification will be strongly considered.
