Under limited supervision and with minimal technical guidance, plant machinery and mechanical equipment are in good repair. Examine machines to diagnose trouble, dismantle machines, replace defective parts, reassemble machines, and make necessary adjustments to ensure efficient operation. May involve scrapping of ways. May occasionally make replacement parts. Candidates at this level perform intermediate to advance troubleshooting, work with limited technical guidance and may provide work training to less experienced maintenance staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform mechanical maintenance on production machinery and utility systems, applying sound technical judgment.
- Diagnose and report equipment malfunctions, document findings and corrective actions.
- Execute repairs, component replacements, and small fabrications or modifications to restore capability.
- Maintain a clean organized shop area and ensure tools, parts, and materials are service-ready.
- Support new equipment installations and facility changes, coordinating with operations and engineering.
- Follow established safety programs, lockout/tagout, and quality procedures without exception.
- Help refine preventive maintenance tasks and intervals to improve uptime and asset life.
- Share best practices with teammates; provide basic coaching to production staff on safe equipment use.
- Read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and basic ladder logic to aid troubleshooting.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting and maintaining industrial machinery.
- Hands-on expertise in preventative maintenance and mechanical systems.
- A proactive mindset, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 5+ years of maintenance experience in an aerospace manufacturing or production setting.
- Proven ability to analyze root causes of mechanical failures and recommend effective solutions.
- Experience performing overhauls, alignments, and adjustments to improve machine performance.
- Familiarity with CMMS or maintenance documentation practices.
- Ability to interpret prints, diagrams, and basic control logic.
- Strong safety mindset, clear communication, and dependable work habits.
Work Environment:
1. This position works in the machine shop environment throughout the workday; this environment may include exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vapor from coolant, etc.
2. Possible skin and inhaled contact with various sealants, paints, adhesives, and other chemicals may occur, as well as possible skin and inhaled contact with chemicals used to run CNC machines or clean manufactured parts, including solvents and MEK.
3. Industry standard safety equipment is provided by the Company, and specific notice is posted in areas where safety equipment is required.
4. Safety training is required and provided by the Company in accordance with applicable law, industry standards, and Company policy.
5. Work may be performed in an office environment or the manufacturing area of the facility which may require use of safety glasses and hearing protection.
6. Exposure to heat, cold, dust, dirt, noise, odors, fumes, vapor from coolant, etc. may also be encountered when in the manufacturing areas to varying degrees.
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
