This position is based out of the Trenton office will generally cover Grundy, Daviess, Harrison, Mercer, and Putnam counties.
Job Overview
The ITCD Certified Peer Specialist is responsible for providing mutual assistance in promoting recovery by persons experiencing similar psychiatric or substance use challenges. Peer Specialists share their personal success stories, serve as a role model, help the persons served to build social networks, and articulate client’s personal goals as well as help to identify the means to reach those goals.
Responsibilities
1. Will provide direct services that include:
- Engaging the person served
- Support personal recovery goals or building on resiliency
- Community networking
- Advocating with and for the person served
- Provide/model good parenting skills
- Mentoring
- Bridging or navigating
2. The full-time Peer Specialist will provide 20 face-to-face direct service activities weekly, individually or in a group, that include:
- Self-advocacy
- Wellness
- Life skills such as accepting responsibility, money management and honoring commitments
- Self-Care skills such as cooking, cleaning, laundry and shopping
- Goal setting
- Decision-making skills
3. Job duties will be assigned according to client needs with the assistance of the Community Support Specialist. The job duties will be reflected in the client’s Master Treatment Plan.
4. Complete and sign documentation or related paperwork contemporaneously with service provision (within three (3) business days) and in accordance with agency and certification standards. Progress notes will include the client’s progress, problems and needs.
5. Meet at least weekly with supervisor
6. Transport clients as needed.
7. Maintain client confidentiality.
8. Perform related work as requested to carry out the purposes, goals and objectives of the agency.
Qualifications
Have a valid Missouri driver’s license. Automobile and required liability insurance. Have a High School Diploma or GED and be age 18 or older. Must be in recovery and be a current or former recipient of services. Must be trained and certified as a Certified Peer Specialist. (https://mopeerspecialist.com/)
