Overview
The General Storage Inventory Control Associate is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring operational safety at the Toyota Plant in Buffalo. This role ensures that parts and materials are properly stored, counted, and managed efficiently to support production and logistics schedules.
Responsibilities
- Conduct daily cycle counts and routine inventory checks to maintain system accuracy.
- Reconcile physical counts with system records, research, and resolve discrepancies.
- Utilize handheld scanners or data entry tools to update the Warehouse Management System (WMS), ensuring real-time visibility and accuracy.
- Support product safety by following proper packaging, handling, and labeling standards to prevent damage or contamination.
- Enforce warehouse safety protocols, including correct storage methods, safe aisle management, and adherence to PPE guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized storage environment with clear labeling and visual controls.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, production, and quality teams regarding inventory discrepancies or safety concerns.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts, including kaizen, 5S, and lean practices.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in inventory control, storage, warehousing, or manufacturing is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (basic formulas, data entry), email, and general computer operations.
- Ability to lift 35, work in a warehouse environment, and stand/walk for extended periods.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team setting.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced storage and warehouse environment supporting production and logistics operations.
- Shift work covering day and night operations; adherence to safety and operational standards is required.
- May involve use of forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment.
