Overview
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Activity Therapist to join our dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Apply appropriate therapeutic theories, principles, and professional standards in all treatment interventions while maintaining appropriate therapeutic boundaries.
- Assess patient needs, considering cultural, religious, developmental, and physical factors to determine participation in therapeutic activities and groups.
- Complete comprehensive assessments for all new clients within established timeframes.
- Document patient responses to therapeutic interventions through daily and weekly progress notes as appropriate.
- Contribute to the multidisciplinary treatment plan by providing recommendations that support individualized, measurable goals and interventions.
- Maintain ongoing communication with therapists, physicians, and treatment team members regarding patient progress and response to treatment.
- Identify and address the developmental needs of children and adolescents ages 5–17 when planning and facilitating activities.
- Develop and facilitate therapeutic activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral growth.
- Provide a variety of therapeutic and recreational activities that align with each patient's treatment goals.
- Reassess patient progress and update treatment goals when significant changes occur or every seven days in accordance with facility policy.
- Participate in treatment planning meetings and provide clinical feedback to support therapeutic interventions.
- Provide guidance and support to clinical and unit staff regarding activity-based groups and programming.
What We're Looking For
Education
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following areas:
- Recreational Therapy (CTRS)
- Music Therapy (MT-BC)
- Art Therapy (ATR, ATR-BC, ATR-P, LPAT)
- Related therapeutic discipline
Qualifications
- Current CTRS, Music Therapy, or Art Therapy certification/licensure as required by state regulations.
- CPR certification required or obtained within 30 days of hire.
- De-escalation/Crisis Intervention certification required or obtained within 30 days of hire.
- Previous experience in a psychiatric or behavioral healthcare setting preferred.
- Experience working directly with children and adolescents ages 5–17 strongly preferred.
- Strong communication, documentation, and group facilitation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment team.
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
