We are seeking a compassionate, creative, and knowledgeable 48-week Special Education Teacher to lead a small, supportive classroom of preschoolers with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of early childhood development, experience implementing IEPs, and the ability to differentiate instruction in an engaging and structured way. Collaboration with teaching assistants, therapists, and families is essential to support each child's developmental progress.
Provide direct instruction to students in all developmental domains (cognitive, communication, motor, social-emotional, adaptive) using evidence-based practices
Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with NYS Prekindergarten Standards and individualized goals
Lead and manage a small classroom team, including Teacher Aides and Teaching Assistants
Implement students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and collect ongoing progress data
Collaborate with related service providers (Speech, OT, PT, etc.) and participate in team meetings
Communicate regularly and effectively with families regarding student progress and classroom activities
Maintain a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment
Participate in professional development and school-wide initiatives
New York State certification in Students with Disabilities (Birth–Grade 2) or equivalent
Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education (Master’s Degree preferred)
Experience working with preschool-age children with special needs (preferred)
Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
