Raleigh Medical Group is seeking a professional, organized, and customer-focused Patient Service Representative to support our Family Dermatology practice. This role serves as the first point of contact for patients by providing exceptional customer service while managing patient registration, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, telephone communications, and front office operations.
The Patient Service Representative plays a vital role in creating a positive patient experience while supporting efficient daily operations and collaborating with clinical staff to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
Answers and directs incoming telephone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
Returns patient calls and routes messages appropriately when necessary.
Enters and updates patient demographic and insurance information while ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Processes and reassigns incoming patient requests received through the patient portal and website.
Submits new patient requests to the appropriate physician through the electronic health record (EHR) system.
Verifies insurance eligibility through the practice management system for same-day appointments.
Processes appointment cancellation line information and updates schedules accordingly.
Processes prescription refill request line information and routes requests to the appropriate clinical staff.
Participates in departmental meetings and practice team meetings.
Participates in interdisciplinary customer service training and professional development activities.
Operates as part of a patient-centered care team by collaborating with clinical staff to provide coordinated patient care.
Assists with patient check-in/check-out processes and other front office responsibilities as needed.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of one year of medical office experience.
Experience working with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to speak clearly and professionally in person and over the telephone.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive patient information.
Dependable attendance and ability to complete work accurately and efficiently.
Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn practice management systems.
Experience in a dermatology or specialty medical practice.
Proficiency with Windows-based software applications.
Excellent customer service and organizational skills.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
