Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented part-time attorney to handle 5 to 10 court appearances per month across Massachusetts. This contract role involves representing clients in family law, criminal defense, estate planning, and bankruptcy matters. It is ideal for solo practitioners or contract attorneys looking to supplement their income with flexible litigation work.
Compensation & Hours
- Pay Rate: $100.00 per hour
- Hours: 5 to 10 hours per month (based on scheduled appearances)
- Status: Part-time / Contract (1099)
Key Responsibilities
- Attend scheduled hearings in Massachusetts Probate and Family, District, and Bankruptcy courts.
- Cover matters including family law, criminal defense, estate planning, and bankruptcy law.
- Review case files and relevant Massachusetts statutes prior to appearances.
- Provide quick, detailed post-hearing updates to the primary attorney.
- Maintain professional courtroom demeanor and punctual attendance.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
- Active, good-standing membership in the Massachusetts Bar.
- Experience with MA Probate & Family Court and MA District Court procedures.
- Familiarity with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts.
- Reliable transportation for travel to local courthouses.
- Strong verbal advocacy skills and ability to quickly digest case facts.
