Description:
The Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing onsite occupational health support on active construction sites, focusing on injury prevention, early intervention, functional movement assessments, ergonomic coaching, and safe-work practices. This role plays an essential part in maintaining a healthy, safe, and productive workforce by partnering closely with employees, site leadership, safety teams, and the OccuMedX operations team.
The ideal candidate is proactive, people-centered, and able to thrive in a dynamic construction environment while delivering high-quality care and education.
Duties:

Injury Prevention & Early:
-
Provide onsite assessment, first aid, and early intervention care for work-related musculoskeletal concerns and minor injuries.

Conduct injury prevention programs such as stretching routines, mobility training, and warm-up sessions for crews.

Perform functional movement screenings and ergonomic assessments to identify risks and recommend corrective actions.
- Worker Health & Wellness Support:

Conduct regular safety walks to identify potential risks.

Monitor workers for signs of heat stress, fatigue, overexertion, and other environmental risk factors.
- Educate workers on body mechanics, lifting techniques, and safe work practices.
- Promote overall worker well-being through health coaching and routine check-ins.
- Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all medical incidents, treatments, and follow-up care provided to workers.

Prepare incident reports, injury logs, and other documentation required for regulatory compliance and internal reporting purposes. Communicate effectively with management, project team, and external agencies.

Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA, OSHA, and company protocols.
- Site & Client Collaboration:

Work collaboratively with general contractors, safety managers, medics, and project leadership to support the overall health and productive of the workforce.
- Participate in daily huddles, toolbox talks, or safety meetings as needed.

Communicate trends or site-specific health risks to operations leadership.
- Other Duties:

Build lasting relationships with our internal and external partners.

Maintain inventory of onsite medical supplies and ensure equipment is clean, organized, and operational.
- Assist with site metrics, reporting, and client-facing injury trend summaries as requested.

Conditions of Employment:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field.

Current BOC certification as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) required.

Active BLS for Healthcare Providers Certification required.

OSHA 30 Construction certification - Must obtain within first 30 days of employment (Employer Provided).

Familiarity with occupational health and safety regulations, including OSHA standards preferred.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees and clients at all levels required.

Strong organization skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment required.

Must be able to adapt to changes without compromise and become proficient quickly.

Must be able to operate effectively in unpredictable situations.

Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and/or diagram form.

Comfortable in a construction environment.

Must be able to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; must be able to regularly lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.

Must be comfortable working at heights.

This position is considered a critical function withing the company; subject to call back and overtime if required.

Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
