Job Summary
The Ready Mix Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a ready mix concrete truck to deliver concrete to job sites. This role ensures timely, accurate deliveries while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, customer service, and compliance with company, state, and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Safety and Compliance

Follow all company safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.

Adhere to all state and federal regulations related to the transportation and delivery of product.

Participate in safety meetings and required training programs.
2. Truck Operation
-
Safely operate the ready mix truck in a variety of traffic, weather, and job site conditions.

Adjust mix designs as needed to meet job requirements.

Load materials at the plant and deliver to job sites, mixing and unloading concrete according to specifications.
3. Inspections and Maintenance

Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including fueling, cleaning, tire and light checks, and fluid levels.

Report mechanical problems and assist with preventative maintenance as required.

Visually inspect the consistency of concrete before and during delivery.
4. Customer Service and Communication

Interact with customers to understand needs and provide delivery updates.

Maintain positive customer relations by acting in a professional and courteous manner.

Communicate effectively with dispatch and coworkers verbally, via two-way radio, or using hand signals.
5. Documentation and Recordkeeping

Complete and maintain accurate delivery records, including delivery tickets.

Ensure all required documentation is signed, returned, and filed appropriately.

Exercise sound judgment regarding work site access, unloading, and truck operation.
6. Cleaning and Additional Duties

Use water hoses to clean the mixer between loads and maintain cleanliness of equipment.

Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

License: Valid CDL with appropriate endorsements.

Driving Record: Clean MVR and current valid DOT medical card.

Experience: Previous experience operating ready mix trucks or heavy commercial vehicles.

Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of OSHA, FMCSA, and DOT regulations.

Attendance: Regular and predictable attendance is required.

Flexibility: Ability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
Physical Requirements

Operate heavy equipment for extended periods of time.

Lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 pounds.

Prolonged standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing ladders and stairs, crawling, and balancing.

Operate hand controls with both hands and foot pedals with both feet.

Perform sustained overhead reaching, gripping, and use of vibration tools.

Tolerate working outdoors in all weather conditions and environmental temperatures.

Ability to work in areas with high noise levels, dust, fumes, vibration, and around moving mechanical parts.

Comfortable working at heights up to 9 feet.
Working Conditions

Primarily works in a truck and at various job sites.

Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust, loud noise, vibration, fumes, and airborne particles.

May work near mechanical parts, caustic chemicals, or risk of electric shock.

Work schedule may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime to meet operational needs.
