6th Grade Computer Science Teacher
The 6th Grade Computer Science Teacher introduces students to the fundamentals of computer science through engaging, hands-on learning experiences. Students develop computational thinking, problem-solving, and digital literacy skills while exploring computer systems, coding, and responsible technology use. The teacher creates an interactive classroom environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach foundational computer science concepts, including algorithms, programming, and computational thinking.
- Introduce students to block-based and introductory text-based coding platforms.
- Foster problem-solving, logical reasoning, and critical thinking skills through coding projects and challenges.
- Teach digital citizenship, internet safety, and ethical use of technology.
- Integrate real-world applications of computer science and emerging technologies.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Assess student progress using project-based learning, performance tasks, and formative assessments.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary STEM initiatives and school-wide technology integration.
- Encourage creativity, teamwork, and innovation through coding, robotics, and computer science activities.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging learning environment while promoting student curiosity and a growth mindset.
This position prepares students with the foundational skills needed for future coursework in computer science, robotics, engineering, cybersecurity, and other STEM career pathways.
