About the Role
We are hiring two part-time Robotics Teachers to lead hands-on robotics classes for elementary and middle school students (grades K–8). You will teach students how to build, code, and compete using VEX and LEGO robotics platforms. This is a great opportunity for someone who loves working with kids, has real robotics experience, and wants to help shape future engineers in a brand-new Robot Arena facility.
Responsibilities
- Teach robotics classes using VEX GO, VEX AIM, and LEGO platforms to students ages 5–14
- Guide students through building, coding, and troubleshooting robots
- Follow STEM Junction's structured curriculum while adapting instruction to different skill levels
- Prepare materials, set up kits, and maintain robotics equipment before and after classes
- Create an engaging, supportive classroom environment that encourages experimentation
- Help students prepare for robotics competitions (VEX, FIRST LEGO League, etc.)
- Communicate with parents about student progress and class activities
- Collaborate with the Program Director on curriculum improvements and event planning
Qualifications
Required:
- Hands-on experience with VEX Robotics (VEX GO, VEX IQ, VEX V5, or VEX AIM) and/or LEGO robotics (SPIKE, EV3, WeDo)
- Comfortable teaching and managing groups of kids ages 5–14
- Basic coding knowledge (block-based coding at minimum; Python is a plus)
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work after-school hours and weekends
- Strong communication skills and patience with young learners
- Must pass a background check
Preferred:
- Experience coaching or mentoring at robotics competitions (VEX Worlds, FIRST LEGO League, etc.)
- Teaching, tutoring, or youth mentoring experience
- College coursework or degree in Education, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Familiarity with VEXcode GO, VEXcode AIM, or Python-based robotics programming
- CPR/First Aid certification
