Duties
- Support HVAC technicians in installing new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems according to schematics and design plans
- Assist with routine maintenance and troubleshooting of HVAC equipment including air conditioning units, refrigeration systems, and mechanical components
- Help diagnose electrical issues using tools like ohmmeters and assist with electrical diagnostics for system repairs
- Aid in repairing mechanical systems and equipment failures to ensure optimal system performance
- Handle basic plumbing tasks related to HVAC installations or repairs as directed by senior technicians
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment by preparing job sites and handling tools such as hand tools and specialized equipment
- Support the testing of HVAC/R (refrigeration) systems for proper operation and safety compliance
- Assist with building automation system setup and maintenance to optimize energy efficiency and system control
Skills
- Construction experience or familiarity with mechanical systems installation is highly valued
- Service technician experience in HVAC or related fields enhances your ability to troubleshoot effectively
- Ability to read schematics, technical drawings, and HVAC design plans accurately
- Basic understanding of plumbing, refrigeration, electrical systems, and HVAC system repair techniques
- Mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience using hand tools and diagnostic equipment like ohmmeters
- Strong customer service skills to communicate professionally with clients during service visits or installations
- Valid EPA certification for handling refrigerants is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to obtain certification is encouraged
- Experience with building automation systems and electrical diagnostics is a plus
- Ability to operate a van safely as a driver between job sites while adhering to traffic laws
- Willingness to learn equipment troubleshooting procedures and perform routine maintenance tasks confidently
