Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Afternoon Assistant and School Year Substitute to join our vibrant early childhood education team. Responsibilities
- Supervise children during afternoon activities, snack times, and transitions to ensure safety and engagement
- Assist with facility cleanup routines in the afternoon
- Support classroom management by maintaining a positive, respectful environment conducive to learning
- Communicate effectively with parents about daily activities in the afternoon
- Follow all health and safety protocols, including pediatric first aid and CPR procedures when necessary
- Cover classrooms as a substitute teacher during the school year, ensuring continuity of care and instruction
- Maintain accurate attendance records and document children's progress or concerns as directed by lead staff
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children in daycare, preschool, or early childhood education settings preferred
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and age-specific teaching strategies
- Certification in first aid, CPR, and pediatric first aid highly desirable
- Familiarity with special education needs and behavior management techniques
- Strong communication skills for parent interactions and team collaboration
- Ability to supervise children effectively while demonstrating patience and enthusiasm
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in inclusive classrooms is a plus
- Knowledge of mandated reporting laws related to child safety and well-being
