We are seeking a passionate Children's Ministry Coordinator to help build a thriving ministry that nurtures children in their faith and creates meaningful connections with families in our community.
Position Summary
The Children's Ministry Coordinator will lead the development and growth of our children's ministry for children ages 5–12 while overseeing our Sunday morning nursery. Working alongside the pastor, church staff, and Children's Ministry Team, this person will create engaging, Christ-centered experiences that help children know Jesus, grow in their faith, and build lasting relationships within the church.

Responsibilities
- Develop and lead a Children's Church program for children ages 5–12.
- Partner with the Children's Ministry Team to select curriculum and plan lessons.
- Create engaging, age-appropriate Bible lessons and activities that help children:
- Know Jesus.
- Grow in their relationship with Him.
- Learn and apply God's Word.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and support ministry volunteers.
- Oversee the operation of the Sunday morning nursery.
- Establish and maintain child check-in, security, and safety procedures.
- Collaborate with church staff to create promotional materials and communicate ministry events.
- Build relationships with families both within the congregation and throughout the Venice community.
- Organize and lead an annual Vacation Bible School (VBS).
- Evaluate ministry effectiveness and recommend improvements.
- Prepare and manage the annual children's ministry budget.
- Support the mission and ministry of First Lutheran Church of Venice.
Qualifications
Required:
- A committed Christian with a demonstrated relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Passion for children's ministry and helping families grow in faith.
- Experience working with children in a church, educational, or ministry setting.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to recruit, train, and lead volunteers.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a ministry team.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification.
Preferred:
- Experience planning Vacation Bible School or similar children's events.
- Experience selecting or teaching Christian curriculum.
- Familiarity with child safety policies and volunteer management.
